Why can’t we just email receipts? Well in theory that is a great idea but in practice it doesn’t work for higher volume shops. If you have a line at your register do you want to be messing with a keyboard to type in the email address of the customer? ShopKeep gives you the option to print a receipt to your Star TSP100 LAN printer from the iPad. If you don’t want to print a receipt just choose the “Next Customer”.

I believe that in making the statement “in practice it doesn’t work for higher volume shops,” that you are deciding for your paid ShopKeep clients what is best for them. Shouldn’t you rather be listening to your clients and their needs? Not all ShopKeep clients are necessarily high volume shops, nor too busy to enter an e-mail address. I’m constantly asked for my e-mail at loads of high volume retail businesses, with the unspoken intent of sending me loads of e-mails.
If I’d rather not pay the money for a dedicated receipt printer when I don’t need a paper receipt for the majority of transactions (hair salon), I’d like to have the option to somehow get our customers receipts if they so request (we also sell jewelry).
Square Register, a free app that is severely lacking in many features, provides this capability. At $49+ per month, not including this feature puts ShopKeep behind the curve, IMO.
