  • More than 50% of my sales are cash will this work?

    ShopKeep was founded by a retailer so we know that cash is not going away anytime soon. That's why we built in full cash management features. Track opening and closing amounts, petty cash payouts, cash drops, and inventory purchases straight through to QuickBooks. And of course the cash drawer pops open on all cash sales just like a classic cash register!

  • Is the iPad POS right for my type of store?

    The iPad Register was designed for coffee shops, concession stands, bakeries, cafeterias and other similar shops. It allows 270 buttons for items, unlimited searchable items, as well as 30 open items (you set the price at the register). It can also barcode scan using a Bluetooth scanner.  It will not manage tabs, but CAN print orders to the kitchen.

  • What card reader do you need for the iPad?

    ShopKeep uses the secure, sturdy and encrypted Magtek iDynamo. Designed for thousands of swipes a day, this amazing piece of hardware is fast and durable. It reads in one swipe and since the device attaches to the power port of the iPad so it doesn't spin around like headphone jack swipers.

  • What rates do you charge for credit card processing?

    ShopKeep.com is not a credit card processor but we partner with the best processor in the business. Our preferred partner for the iPad and Mac is Payment Revolution and they can answer any questions that you may have. Just give Eric or his team a ring at 800-704-3965 to discuss rates. If you are ready to apply, simply fill out this form and we will get you started.  Of course you are also welcome to use a different credit card processor - ShopKeep for the iPad and for the Mac connects with almost every processor in the USA through the ShopKeep Gateway.  Remember, we are retailers too and we know you want you to have options.

  • When do I get my deposits on Credit Cards?

    100% of your deposits on Visa & Mastercard transactions will appear in your bank account within 48 hours (Amex takes 72 hours).  Our preferred processors will not hold your deposits longer than 72 hours.

  • Will you lock me into a contract with a cancellation fee?

    Heck no! We hate contracts as much as you do (remember we are retailers too) so neither ShopKeep nor Payment Revolution (our preferred processor on the iPad and Mac) will lock you into a long term agreement. You can always cancel with ShopKeep and Payment Revolution with no cancellation fee.  If you are going to use a different payment processor than Payment Revolution, be sure to ask about their cancellation policies.

  • Can ShopKeep print receipts and pop a cash drawer?

    Yes! Find and buy all the hardware that is certified to work with the ShopKeep iPad Register on our POS Hardware page.  We even created this video to show you how to set up the hardware.

  • How can my staff earn more tips with ShopKeep?

    ShopKeep was founded by a coffee shop owner so we know how important tips are to baristas! Our innovative tip feature asks the customer to choose from 3 suggested tips or type in their own. We have seen our customers go from $0 to $140 a day in card tips after switching from Squareup.com.

  • Can I use pictures or different colors buttons?

    We designed the ShopKeep Register for speed and simplicity. That means no options for color or picture buttons.

  • Does it do table service?

    No sorry. ShopKeep is not for table service restaurants. We only cashier on our register and cannot keep a ticket open.

  • Can we print to the kitchen?

    Yes! We sell a printer designed for use in a kitchen environment. Our Smart Memo feature allows you to print notes along with an order, and will even suggest previous requests the next time.

  • How can I download the iPad register to play around?

    It's easy, just open this link in the app store.  To get your inventory into the app, you'll want to sign up for a 30 day risk free trial account here then activate the register.  You can be up and ringing sales in minutes!

  • What printer works with the iPad Register?

    The ONLY (Yes ONLY) receipt printer that works with the ShopKeep iPad Register is the Star Micronics TSP 143 LAN printer which you can purchase here. So, this means the Star TSP 143 USB version does not work. In addition no other receipt printer from Star nor any other manufacturer will work with the iPad Register. You must use the TSP 143 LAN version because it is a network printer and we only print using the network. If you're printing orders to the kitchen or another remote location, the only printer that will work is the Star SP700 impact printer which you can purchase here. These are the ONLY two printers that work with the ShopKeep iPad Register.
