Congratulations to Jenna Boykin, owner of Re:defined Boutique and winner of $1,000 as one of the runners up in our Small Biz, Big Ideas competition. We asked her to share a little bit more about her business and her big idea.
Tell us about yourself and you how you first got involved in small business?
I was a stay at home Mom with a Piano Performance degree…..I jumped blindly into starting a small business!
Tell Us About How and When You Started Your Business?
After suffering from an eating disorder for many years, I wanted to make something good out of my experience. I decided that there was no better platform to share my story and spread truth and hope about body image than a women’s boutique….so I did it!
How Did You Feel When You Found Out You Won the Prize?
What Was Your Small Biz, Big Idea?
Because I love to have a mission for my business(es), I was inspired to start carrying children’s clothing and have 10% of the profits from these sales go towards an adoption grant/scholarship program. My HUGE goal is to help loving parents and fund at least 1 adoption per year.
Applicants will write essays and be interviewed to be in the running for this money. What better way to make a difference in my community and world, than help give orphaned children a loving family and a loving family the child they so long for!?
I have always been touched and convicted that there are too many orphans in this world. I HAVE to be a part of saving some of these lives.
What is Your Intention With The Money? How will you implement the idea?
