AppCard and Lightspeed Retail

Create loyal customers and bring in new faces by creating discounts and personalized offers using the AppCard loyalty program. Sign up for AppCard and link your Lightspeed Retail account to track customer purchases as they earn and redeem rewards at the register.

AppCard Setup

Follow the setup steps to create an AppCard account and link it with Lightspeed Retail. Once linked, customer purchases are tallied to earn reward points.

  1. Download 'AppCard for ShopKeep' from the App Store.
  2. Open AppCard, then tap 'Learn More'.

  3. Enter your business information, then tap 'Submit Info'.

  4. Tap 'Ok' on the confirmation message.

  5. Wait for an email from AppCard within a few business days containing an activation code.

  6. In the AppCard app, tap 'Sign In'.

  7. Enter the activation code from the email in step 5.

  8. If you have more than one Lightspeed Retail register, enable the ‘multiple registers’ setting and enter the register number of the Retail POS (S-Series) app used on this iPad.

  9. Tap ‘Continue’ to activate the AppCard app.

    Once activated, customers can begin earning AppCard loyalty points and redeeming points for rewards.

  10. (Optional) Repeat steps 6 - 9 on each additional register you want to use with AppCard.

    Each Lightspeed Retail register requires a unique activation code so data can be properly tagged in AppCard. Need activation codes for additional registers? Contact AppCard support and request codes for the AppCard for ShopKeep app.

  11. Follow the steps in the section below to set up loyalty rewards from the AppCard Merchant Dashboard.

AppCard Merchant Dashboard

Visit AppCard’s Merchant Dashboard to access reporting, create custom offers and campaigns, track customers, and more.

  1. Log into your AppCard account here.
  2. Use the dashboard to manage AppCard settings, such as creating offers and tracking customers. Contact AppCard Support to learn more about settings and creating offers.

How Customers Earn Loyalty Points

As customers visit your store and make purchases, link Lightspeed Retail transactions to AppCard to allow customers to accumulate loyalty points.

Steps 1 – 3 can be carried out at any time before tendering a sale in the Retail POS (S-Series) app. If you perform these steps after completing a sale in Lightspeed Retail, the customer will not earn points in AppCard.

  1. In the AppCard app, enter the customer's mobile phone number, then tap 'Continue'.

    New AppCard customers will be automatically enrolled, and existing AppCard customers will have their account loaded.

  2. For new AppCard customers, make a selection on the prompt.

    Tap ‘Send SMS’ to send the customer a link to download AppCard. Tap ‘No SMS’ to skip this step.

  3. Tap 'ShopKeep' in the top left corner to open the Retail POS (S-Series) app.
  4. In the Retail POS (S-Series) app, start a new sale.
  5. Tender the sale as usual and reward points will be assigned to the customer in AppCard.

How Customers Redeem Rewards

When customers earn enough points for the predetermined rewards you set up, use AppCard and Lightspeed Retail to redeem their available rewards.

Steps 1 – 6 can be carried out at any time before tendering a sale in the Retail POS (S-Series) app. If you perform these steps after completing a sale in the Retail POS (S-Series) app, the customer’s reward may not be properly redeemed in AppCard.

  1. In the AppCard app, enter the customer's phone number or card number, then tap 'Continue'.

  2. Tap an option from the menu to see available rewards .

  3. Tap 'Redeem' on an available reward.

  4. Select 'Redeem' to confirm.

  5. Tap 'Finished' to redeem the reward in AppCard.

    Return to the Retail POS (S-Series) app to apply the reward to a sale.

  6. Tap 'ShopKeep' in the top left corner to open the Retail POS (S-Series) app.
  7. Start a new sale.
  8. Apply the appropriate discount to the sale and tender as usual.

    To track AppCard discounts, create custom discounts in Lightspeed Retail to match the offers in AppCard. Run the Sales by Discount report in BackOffice to see how often these custom discounts are applied.
