Customer Facing Display

The Clover screen displays transaction details to your customer as the ShopKeep register is being used by the cashier. Below, we’ll show you what customers see at each step during a sale.

The device shows each item on the sale along with its quantity, any modifiers or variants, and an updated total.

As items are added to or removed from the sale, the Clover display updates accordingly.

Subtotal, tax, and total due are on screen. Discounts are reflected in the subtotal.

Accepting Credit Cards

The Clover device supports multiple types of credit payments. Read below to learn how to accept swiped credit/debit cards, EMV chip cards, contactless payments, and manually entered cards when customers sign and tip on the device’s screen.

  • Swipe

    When a customer has a card with only a magnetic stripe, process a swiped credit/debit card transaction.

    1. In ShopKeep, the cashier rings up a sale and taps ‘Credit’.
    2. On the Clover device, the customer selects a tip option.

      Visit the Tips and Gratuity article to learn how to change the suggested amounts or to disable tipping.

    3. The customer slides their card in either direction through the top of the device (card stripe facing down).

    4. For debit cards, the customer can select whether to process the card as 'Credit' or 'Debit'.

      If the customer selects ‘Debit’, they enter their PIN and tap ‘Enter’.

      If PIN Entry is disabled, most debit cards will bypass these screens & automatically process as ‘Credit’.
    5. The customer selects a receipt option.

    6. In ShopKeep, the cashier taps ‘Done’ to confirm the receipt selection and complete the sale.

    EMV

    If a customer’s credit/debit card has a chip, run an EMV transaction.

    1. In ShopKeep, the cashier rings up a sale and taps ‘Credit’.
    2. On the Clover device, the customer selects a tip option.

    3. The customer inserts their card into the top right of the device (chip end first).

    4. When prompted, the customer removes their card.
    5. For debit cards, the customer can select whether to process the card as 'Credit' or 'Debit'.

      If the customer selects ‘Debit’, they enter their PIN and tap ‘Enter’.

    6. The customer signs the screen and taps ‘Done’.

      If the customer entered their PIN correctly in the previous step, they do not have to sign.

    8. In ShopKeep, the cashier taps ‘Done’ to confirm the receipt selection and complete the sale.

    Contactless

    For customers who wish to use a contactless payment method, the Clover device supports Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay, and contactless credit cards.

    1. In ShopKeep, the cashier rings up a sale and taps ‘Credit’.
    2. On the Clover device, the customer selects a tip option.

    3. The customer holds their card/device within 1" of the contactless symbol on the display.

    Manual Entry

    Manual entry allows a customer to enter their credit card information and process their card without swiping, inserting, or tapping it.

    1. In ShopKeep, the cashier rings up a sale and taps ‘Credit’.
    2. The cashier taps ‘Manual Card Entry’.

    3. On the Clover device, the customer selects a tip option.

    4. The customer enters their card number, CVV code, and expiration date, tapping ‘Enter’ after each screen.

    5. The customer signs the screen and taps ‘Done’.

    Payment Settings

    Check out these optional settings to control when customers must enter their PIN or sign for a sale.

    Finding the Payment Settings

    Learn where the device’s payment settings are located.

    1. Tap all 4 corners to exit the Network Pay Display app.

      The corners must be tapped either simultaneously or one at a time in quick succession.

    2. If prompted, enter the Clover device's passcode.

    3. Open the 'Setup' app.

    4. Tap 'Payments'.

    5. Select a section below to change the supported payment settings.

    PIN Entry

    The ‘PIN Entry’ setting applies to transactions where a debit card is used. Choose whether to prompt customers for their PIN or to process debit cards without PIN entry.

    With PIN entry enabled, debit rates will apply to debit card transactions. If PIN entry is disabled, credit rates will apply to processing debit cards.

    1. In the Payment settings, tap 'PIN Entry'.

    3. Tap the Home button to exit Setup.

    4. Reopen the Network Pay Display app to continue using the device with ShopKeep.

    Signature Requirement

    The ‘Signature requirement’ setting allows you to set a threshold for whether a customer must sign for a transaction over a specific limit.

    1. In the Payment settings, tap ‘Signature requirement’.

    2. Select an option for signature requirement.

    3. If 'Don't require signature' is selected, enter an amount.

      Transactions below this amount will not require a signature.

    5. Tap the Home button to exit Setup.

    6. Reopen the Network Pay Display app to continue using the device with ShopKeep.
