WiFi Settings Issues

This section focuses on the WiFi Settings of your iPad. To learn more about WiFi Settings, see Apple support.

My iPad keeps connecting to my neighbor’s WiFi instead of mine. How can I make my iPad never connect again?

Your iPad will connect to the strongest WiFi signal in the area. It will also only connect automatically to WiFi networks you have already connected to in the past so you’ll want to forget that network.

1 To forget a network, open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.

2 Tap the BTinfo icon for the network you want to forget.

3 Tap Forget This Network and Forget to confirm.

My iPad keeps connecting to the open WiFi close to my business. How can I stop this?

Your iPad will connect to the strongest WiFi signal in the area. If the network is not password protected or if you’ve connected before, you’ll want to turn on “Ask to Join Networks” so you’ll know when the iPad wants to hop to that one.

1 Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.

2 Forget any open networks the iPad has connected to.

3 Scroll to the bottom and toggle Ask to Join Networks on (green).

Bluetooth Settings Issues

Here you can find issues specific to Bluetooth settings. For more information, check out Apple Support.

How do I know if my Bluetooth credit card reader, barcode scanner, or printer is connected?

Bluetooth allows accessories to be “connected” to the iPad wirelessly.

1 Make sure Bluetooth is on in the Settings app.

If it is off, tap Bluetooth and switch it on.

2 Tap your scanner or printer if it says “Not Connected”.

3 Wait to connect or re-pair your printerscanner or reader.

My scanner (or printer or iCMP) was connected but now I can’t connect. What do I do?

If you are having trouble with your Bluetooth device, sometimes disconnecting the device and repairing is the next solution.

1 Go to the Settings app on your iPad.

2 Tap the BTinfo icon for the Bluetooth device.

3 Tap “Forget This Device” and then “OK” to confirm.

4 Reconnect your printerscanner or reader.

I used my scanner (or iCMP or printer) on the other iPad in the store, I tried to connect to this one and I can’t. What can I do?

Bluetooth accessories can only be paired with one device at a time,  so un-pair the accessory before connecting it to another device.

1 Go to the Settings app on your iPad.

2 Tap the BTinfo icon for the Bluetooth device.

3 Tap “Forget This Device” and then “OK” to confirm.

4 Connect your printerscanner or reader to your other device.

General Settings Issues

This section focuses on the General Settings of your iPad. To learn more about these settings, see the iPad user guide.

How do I know if my iDynamo is connecting to the iPad?

Your iPad detects any accessory connected to it through the charging port and lets you know under the About tab in Settings.

1 Open Settings, tap General, and select About.

2 Scroll through the list on the right and look for iDynamo.

3 Tap iDynamo and then Find App for Accessory to make sure it’s compatible.

ShopKeep should be listed as a compatible app.

1 Open Settings.

2 Tap General on the left and Software Update on the right.

3 Tap Download & Install and follow the prompts on screen.

Read our Updating iOS help article for more detailed guidance.

My Bluetooth devices keep un-pairing from the iPad so I have to repair it all the time. What’s going on?

It’s likely that your iPad is going to “sleep” throughout the day. This sleep mode will turn off the connection between your iPad and Bluetooth enabled devices.

1 To turn off Auto-Lock, open Settings and tap General.

2 Select Auto-Lock and set to Never.

Serverless Sync™ is not syncing my open checks between registers. What could be the issue?

Most likely, one of your iPads is going to “sleep” throughout the day. This shuts off the connection between iPads. Turn off Auto-Lock to ensure proper syncing.

1 To turn off Auto-Lock, open Settings and tap General.

2 Select Auto-Lock and set to Never.

The date/time on my iPad is wrong. How can I fix it?

The date, time, and time zone affect what prints on receipts and the timestamps on BackOffice reporting.

1 Open the Settings app on your iPad.

2 Tap General on the left and Date & Time on the right.

3 If connected to the internet, turn Set Automatically on to automatically set the date, time, and time zone.

If the iPad is not connected to the internet, manually adjust the date, time, and time zone as needed.

4 Verify that the date, time, and time zone are all correct.

The time on my iPad shows up without AM or PM. Why is that?

It is because the 24-Hour Time setting is toggled on. Not to worry, the solution is easy.

1 Open the Settings app on your iPad.

2 Tap General on the left and Date & Time on the right.

3 Turn off 24-Hour Time.

My receipts print out with the wrong date/time. What do I do?

The date and time on a receipt come directly from the iPad’s settings. Follow these instructions to correct the date and time on each iPad to fix the problem in no time.
